EXODUS 2:23-25 | God Hears and Remembers

Episode Notes

“God’s covenant people can trust that He hears their cry, remembers His promises, and is faithful to His Word.” —Rodney C. Brown Jr.

After 430 years in Egypt, the Israelites groan under brutal slavery. God hears their cry, remembers His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and takes notice of them.

Two movements structure the text: • The Cry of God’s Children • The Response of our Impassible God

The passage presses deep into theology proper—God’s immutability and impassibility. Scripture’s language of God “hearing,” “remembering,” and “taking notice” is not evidence of mood swings or newly acquired information. The God who never changes remains faithful to His covenant word. His people can rest knowing that their suffering is neither ignored nor forgotten.
