God commands His children to remember their salvation through regular celebration and education.
In this message from Exodus 12:14-38, God establishes the Feast of Unleavened Bread as a permanent ordinance. Right after the Passover, Israel is commanded to celebrate this week-long feast of matza so that the memory of their deliverance will not fade. Through intentional celebration and the education of the next generation, God’s people are to keep the reality of their salvation alive.
This text reminds us that we are a forgetful people. God graciously gives us tangible ways—celebration, symbols, and teaching—to remember what He has done so that gratitude and faithfulness do not leak from our minds.
