Because our Lord has radically come to us and called us to discipleship, we are to do the same for others.
In this message from Matthew 4:12-25, Jesus begins His public ministry not in Jerusalem among the religious elite, but in the outlying region of Galilee—the land of darkness and the shadow of death. He chooses ordinary fishermen and issues a simple yet radical call: “Follow Me.” They drop their nets and leave everything behind.
The same Lord who came to us in the incarnation now calls us to follow Him and to invite others into that same discipleship. The gospel is for the outlying places, the ordinary people, and everyone. True discipleship means leaving behind what once defined us and living as those who have been called by the King.
